Five ways we help Greater Victoria owners decide and act

Pick the service that matches the question you are stuck on. Most owners start with one defined piece of work, then keep a monthly session once the first decision is made.

Choose by the question, not by the label. If you don't know where growth should come from, start with a growth plan. If you know the goal but suspect your marketing money is leaking, start with the spend review. If sales are fine but jobs, orders or appointments keep jamming, start with operations. If cash swings worry you more than anything else, start with the seasonal plan. If you need help with one decision this month, book advisory time.

Every service is business and marketing consulting delivered by Ali Sedighi, MBA, through VictoriaBusiness.ca, part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group. Fees for each are on the pricing page, and the FAQ covers contracts and ownership.

  • Twelve-month growth plan

A written plan that names what you will sell more of, to whom, in which part of the region, and what it will cost to get there.

  • Marketing strategy and spend review

An independent read on where your marketing dollars go, what each channel returns, and what to cut, keep or test next.

  • Operations and workflow review

Trace a job or order from first call to paid invoice, find where it stalls, and fix the three steps that cost you most.

  • Seasonal cash and staffing plan

A month-by-month model of revenue, payroll and spending so summer peaks pay for quiet winters instead of surprising you.

  • Owner advisory sessions

Hourly or monthly working sessions with Ali Sedighi, MBA, for decisions that need a second senior head in the room.

Twelve-month growth plan

Use this when you have more possible directions than resources. The growth plan ranks your services, customer types and municipalities by profit and effort, then turns the top picks into quarterly targets with an owner for each.

It suits a firm that has grown by saying yes to everything and now needs to choose. A typical output is a 6–10 page plan, a one-page scorecard and a list of things you will deliberately stop doing.

  • Good fit: you are deciding between a second crew, a new service line or a new part of the region.
  • Poor fit: you need cash this month; start with the seasonal plan instead.

Marketing strategy and spend review

Use this when you spend money on marketing and can't say what it returns. The spend review lines up every channel, from Google Ads and an agency retainer to sponsorships and directory listings, against the enquiries and jobs it actually produced.

You come away knowing your cost per enquiry and cost per won job by channel, and with a written plan for what to cut, keep and test. The review is analysis and advice; any campaign changes are made by you or your agency.

  • Good fit: you pay an agency or freelancer, or spend more than a few hundred dollars a month on ads.
  • Poor fit: you spend almost nothing and need a basic plan first; a growth plan covers that.

Operations and workflow review

Use this when demand is fine but the work itself is the problem. The workflow review follows real jobs or orders from first contact to paid invoice and measures how long each step takes and where things wait.

Most reviews find that a few steps cause most of the delay: slow quotes, double data entry, unclear hand-offs between office and field, or invoices that go out a week late. We rank fixes by hours and dollars saved.

  • Good fit: you are turning work away, staff are stretched, or customers complain about response time.
  • Poor fit: you need a software implementation partner; we can help choose one, but we don't configure systems.

Seasonal cash and staffing plan

Use this when the calendar, not the customer, is your biggest risk. The seasonal plan builds a 12-month model of revenue, payroll, fixed costs and planned spending, so you can see the low point months in advance.

Victoria businesses feel visitor season, the school year, rain and holiday shutdowns differently. Some trades slow sharply in winter, while others peak in the wet months. The plan shows when to hire, when to build a cash buffer and when to run promotions.

  • Good fit: you have had a scary winter or a summer with too few hands.
  • Poor fit: you need bookkeeping or tax work; that belongs with your accountant.

Owner advisory sessions

Use this when you need a senior sounding board rather than a full project. Advisory sessions are paid by the hour or as a monthly retainer, and each ends with a short written note of what was decided.

Owners use them to pressure-test a quote for a large contract, prepare for a difficult conversation with a partner, review an agency proposal or check a hiring decision. Many keep a monthly session after a project to stay on track.

How to tell which one you need

Answer these four questions honestly and the choice usually becomes obvious.

  1. If you could fix only one thing this year, would it be more customers, better margins, smoother work or steadier cash?
  2. Do you know, within 20%, what your marketing returns? If not, the spend review comes early.
  3. When did a job or order last stall for more than a week, and why?
  4. What was your lowest bank balance last year, and in which month?

Bring your answers to the free first call and we'll recommend one starting point. If two services overlap, we quote them together. You can also read our guides first; each one walks through part of this thinking with worked numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine two services?

Yes, and the common pairing is a growth plan with a marketing spend review, because the plan sets the targets and the review decides how to fund them. We quote combined work as one project so you are not paying twice for the same discovery.

Which service is cheapest to start with?

Advisory sessions, because you can buy a single hour. For a defined deliverable, a focused workflow review or spend review usually sits near the lower end of the project range of $3,500–$25,000 before GST.

Do you carry out the changes for us?

We write the plan, build the models and sit with you while you put changes in place. Your team does the daily work. If you want campaigns run or software configured by a vendor, we help you brief and check them.

How long before I see anything useful?

Most projects deliver a first written finding in the second week. Full plans take three to eight weeks depending on scope and how quickly your figures arrive.
